Having your glass tinted, is it still popular?

It is interesting to see the public perception of our trade. Some people have been aware of it since year dot, others are only just now becoming aware of the benefits our window films can give them. Looking at the costs of incorporating all the benefits into glass, window film is far more economical than anything else.
We install our products on old houses with old glass as well as on brand new double glazed homes or businesses. There is no wrong time or age to have this done.
In new homes, with clear double glazing, the need for tinting becomes evident the moment the sun is heating up the rooms. Although the glass industry still gives us a hard time, by suggesting that any film applied will invalidate their warranties, we have never had a claim in all the time we have been in business. Reality is, a well constructed system in conjunction with the right film will not fail. Care has to be taken in the choice of film, and a good knowledge of glass types is required to get it right.
So, is tinting glass still popular? You bet! More than ever!

How much does tinting the windows cost?

We come across the question of costs a lot and found that people generally have no idea. Consequently, some people are afraid to get a quote.
Our industry is a strange one, in the fact that very few window tinters are prepared to give a price over the phone or by email. I don't know what their problem is.
Here is our approach: Give me some sizes, I will give you a price. The final price may vary, depending on a number of factors. But it should not be very different to the original one.
The other day, we tinted all the clear glass in a "standard" Neill or Initial home. 3 bedrooms, lounge, kitchen and a full basement. There  was 1 ranch slider and 11 sets of 2 panes, plus 3 single panes. The total cost was $1600. No travel costs, call-out fee, GST included. End of story.

A prospective client wanted to get a price on a couple of sets of windows, similar to the picture. Based on his measurements, our price was $370. I went around for a proper quote and the cost reduced by $45.

Morale of the story: Don't be shy, get a quote. We are not going to pressure you into buying from us, we are busy enough.
